For those wanting to discover Padstow’s treasure trove of lesser-known experiences, look no further than this post to discover some of its best kept secrets!

A Beautiful Bothy

Perhaps you want a bit of peace and tranquillity amongst the lively hustle and bustle of Padstow in the summer? Well, tucked away in the enchanting Prideaux Walled Garden lies The Bothy. This venue’s abundant charm is a perfect treat at any time of year. In June, July and August you can make the most of the weather and sit outside for a light bite or for those wanting respite from the bright summer sun why not sit inside its cosy interior! You’ll also find a unique selection of homemade treats, fresh flowers and produce, and boutique items, perfect gifts for family and friends! After you’ve had your fill, explore the garden, giving you a moment to breathe in the picturesque surroundings.

Just in here!!

A quick note on how to find this delightful spot. Its entrance is right next to Little Prawn on Duke Street, you’ll see the sandwich board as you get close. Majestic Deer Grazing

Many of you may have heard of Padstow’s own Elizabethan manor Prideaux Place, but the surrounding gardens and grounds are a must for any visitor. In front you’ll find the delightful Deer Park. This is one of our favourite things to do to relax and if you come at around 2pm you get to see the beautiful herd of deer fed by dedicated Deerkeeper Jim Hocking, who knows everything ther is to know about these wonderful animals! Beautful Flowers in the Garden

Behind the grand Prideaux Place lies a wonderful Victorian Formal Garden. Take a stroll through its enchanting greenery, where nature’s beauty unfolds with the changing seasons. In spring, enjoy the wild garlic, carpeting the ground in lush green and white. In summer, the garden transforms into a vibrant tapestry of flowers, with a variety of blooms, each adding a splash of colour and fragrance to your surroundings. Wander along its paths, discovering something new at every turn, including a classical Temple built of Bath stone in the 18th century (the first use of the material outside the city). Whether you’re a keen gardener or looking for a relaxing retreat, a walk in this ever-changing garden is always a treat.

Garden opening times: Thursday to Sunday – 10.30am to 4.30pm.

Price: Adults £5, Children (aged 12-16) £3.
